General Information
The Mighty Mini-Mite Instructional Program is a learn-to-skate hockey program geared toward the beginning player with an emphasis on skill development. The program is run by Ron Hayes and Dick Marnon and was one of the first programs of its kind in Michigan. Players are divided into groups and instructed by experienced, USA Hockey certified coaches. Children who participate in the Mighty Mini-Mite program are given priority registration status for PCHA Hockey teams the following fall, if age eligible.
Ron Hayes has been running the Mighty Mini-Mites program for 30 years. His hockey background includes many years of coaching at all different levels. He has been active in the Michigan Amateur Hockey Association in many capacities, including District 4 Council Member, District 4 Director, District 4 Chairman. He has served MAHA as an Executive Board Member for several years and as President of MAHA 1990-91. In addition, Ron has also been very involved in the Little Caesars Hockey League from its inception, serving on the Executive Board and as Treasurer. Ron is also a USA Hockey certified referee and has refereed 2 National Championship games and more than 30 State Championship tournaments. Ron was Referee in Chief for District 4 from 1991-2002 and currently serves as an Off-Ice Official with the NHL. The PCHA is proud to have Ron's guidance and dedication to the Mini-Mite program. In addition to Ron's help, we also have the assistance of Dick Marnon, who has been Ron's assistant since 1985. Together they run one of the top Mini-Mite instruction programs in the state.
The player must wear full hockey equipment. The Mighty Mini-Mite program will supply players with two jerseys. This program is run by the Plymouth Canton Hockey Association and has no affiliation with the PCHA teams or with the Plymouth Parks & Recreation program.
The 20006-07 season skates from September 10 through March 30. An hour-long session is held every Saturday with one group scheduled to skate from 3:00-4:00 pm and a second group skating from 4:00-5:00 pm. The month of December will include 4 additional one-hour sessions for pond hockey games. From January through the end of March, additional ice is scheduled for scrimmages.

Full Equipment includes shin guards, hockey socks, garter, athletic supporter with cup (boys) or pelvis protector (girls), hockey pants, elbow pads, gloves, shoulder pads, jersey, hockey helmet with full face guard, neck guard, skates and ice hockey stick.
